Workplace Manchester

When choosing your future working space there are so many options in Manchester! At Workplace we think there are six key considerations to bear in mind. Book an appointment or a free day pass to come and see us and find out if we could be the co-working space for you!

  1. The Location of the co-working space

The adage location location location does always rings true, but there is a lot more to consider here than you might think. It can be hard to a toss-up between a co-working space with a prestigious city centre address and the convenience of lunch spots vs somewhere out of the city centre where you can avoid rush hour traffic. Ultimately it is a very personal decision, but the key areas to consider are where are your client's based? Where are your staff based? What is a suitable commute for most people and what are the public transport links like? Are there trains, trams and buses which will take you and more importantly your client’s, straight to your office doorstep? For any growing, professional business transport links are an absolute must

  1. The Environment

At the end of the day, whether you are co-working or in a private office within a co-working space, you are going to be spending a lot of time there. So it is essential that you feel at home in the surroundings. The style, layout and feel of co-working spaces are often overlooked. Most provide the minimum of what is needed in terms of open-plan layouts and breakout areas, but it is important to consider if the style and décor of any you are considering really suits you. Do the surroundings align with you and your business. Not all clients are comfortable in exposed concrete, and ping pong tables but not all startups belong in plush velvet and coffee tables books territory either. So think, what environment suits me best?

  1. People

The people make a place. Try to do a few trial days and get to know the staff of the co-working space. See if you get on with the people around you. Could you work alongside them or even with them one day? There is nothing worse than trying to avoid people and having to hide around the corner or the other side of the business lounge. Make sure you choose somewhere where the staff and other residents are friendly and approachable

  1. The Facilities

How's the coffee? Is there parking? Can you store your bike? Is there a beer available on a Friday? Think about which little things matter to you and make you feel at home or that make life just that little bit easier for you. Make sure you go for the place which has the things you need

  1. Flexibility

When you are first moving away from your kitchen table, it can be a daunting move. In this instance, consider taking a place somewhere with flexible contracts, so you aren’t locked in should circumstances change. For more established businesses taking somewhere longer, term might be the next step, but with so many unknowns around the corner, with co-working, you can make this work without having to sign a five-year lease!

  1. The Price

The price has to be right and affordable. But more than price consider the value of the place. If the coffee is good, then you won’t be popping out to top up at Starbucks. If there are parking offers, then you won’t be spending money on expensive parking spaces each day. Sometimes the little things add up
